A Lotus Hairstreak butterfly perched on a leaf of White Horehound. The butterflies wings are folded. The photo shows a ventral view of the wings. The wings are a brilliant green with a portion of the upper wing showing a submarginal patch of brown or copper that is partially obscured where the lower wing covers it. The eyes are black, antennae show alternating black and white rings with bulbous black ends. Legs appear to be white or grayish. the body has fine gray hairs.
